Once Human Overhauls Collection Rewards and Shiny Mod Acquisition in June–July 2026

Once Human's mid-2026 recalibration sharpens its Collection system and Shiny Mod pursuit with clearer goals, Precision Components, and 900 level cap.

The development team behind Once Human has detailed a mid-2026 recalibration aimed at making the Collection system and Shiny Mod pursuit feel less like an endless climb and more like a sequence of clearly lit switchbacks. In the latest Dev Blog, the studio acknowledged that the existing Collection loop suffered from stretched core-reward timelines, sluggish feedback, and vague stage goals, while Shiny Mod acquisition relied on a narrow, highly random path. The adjustments, rolling out across the June 24 and July 9 updates, are designed to protect past progress while sharpening long-term chase objectives.

A Clearer Collection Climb

The optimization is built around the core objective of enhancing the sense of pursuit goals. Previously, the Collection reward path resembled a fogged hallway of distant doors, with valuable prizes spaced so far apart that progress felt abstract. The updated presentation now highlights node reward displays, rebalancing value distribution and release rhythm without significantly altering total reward content. Each stretch of progression is given an eye-catching objective, transforming what once felt like scattered grains of sand into a graduated abacus.

Accessories Move to Precision Components

The most significant change affects Weapon Accessories. Before the update, accessories were dispersed across wilderness mini-games, the Morphic Shop, and merchants, forcing players to search several entry points for a specific piece. The new system introduces an exclusive consumable item called Precision Components. Players earn these through the Collection system, then spend the required amount in the Accessory interface to unlock a specified accessory directly.

The accessory unlocking experience has also been synchronized. Unlocked accessory Tips now display the exact Precision Components requirement, and the Accessory interface shows a pin and current quantity in the upper right corner. Meanwhile, original wilderness game modes and tasks will no longer directly provide accessories, and accessories will no longer be redeemable at the Morphic Shop or merchants.

Total Collection Level Expansion

The total Collection level ceiling is being raised from Lv 780 to Lv 900. The team emphasized that existing progress will not be reset and unlocked content will not be reclaimed. Compensation will be issued automatically to eligible Metas who had a certain Collection level before the June 24 version update.

Compensation Rules

All unlocked Weapon Accessories remain intact, and Collection levels are fully retained. Differences in total reward quantity caused by the reward order change and the new Precision Components item are converted through compensation.

Eligibility Compensation
Collection level ≥ Lv. 30 1 Phantom Cube, 5,000 Starchrom, 1,000 Mitsuko's Mark
Collection level 30–59 2 Collection Loot Crates
Collection level 60–79 3 Collection Loot Crates
Collection level ≥ 80 4 Collection Loot Crates

For accessories now unlocked via Precision Components, players receive a converted quantity based on their Collection level and currently unlocked accessory rarity. If the value of already unlocked accessories is lower than the level-based entitlement, the difference is issued as Precision Components. The Dev Blog offered two examples: a Lv 200 player with 130 points of unlocked accessories received 110 Precision Components, while a Lv 100 player whose unlocked accessories converted to 225 points received no additional item because the level entitlement was only 160.

Shiny Mods Gain Predictable Paths

Starting with the July 9 update, Armor Shiny Mods will debut. The team described Shiny Mods as the pinnacle pursuit of the Mod system, carrying unique pins and display effects. Until now, obtaining them mostly depended on probability when receiving duplicate Lv 17 Mods. The update introduces two clearer pathways while aiming to preserve the rare display value of Shiny Mods.

Scenario Honor Rating Rewards

Metas can claim Mod rewards from Scenario Honor - Scenario Rating after meeting the corresponding rating requirements for each Scenario. Shiny Mod rewards are account-level and shared by all characters, and they can be claimed immediately once the rating threshold is met, without waiting for honor rank settlement. For permanent servers, the team plans a new challenge task-like system with periodic resets to ensure access to Scenario Rating Mod rewards.

Mod Collection Progress Rewards

A new Collection Progress reward layer is being added. The collection progress element in the Mod interface becomes a clickable button that shows full requirements and reward previews. Progress is split into tabs by weapon build and armor part, and each tier reached grants a one-time reward that does not reset. Using the Burn build as an example, the blog noted that other weapon builds and armor parts share the same progress structure, though final in-game values may differ.

These Collection Progress rewards are also account-level, claimable once per account, and immediately available after the July 9 update for eligible Metas. However, Shiny Mod Selection Crates from the Mod 2.0 launch will not be able to select the newly introduced Armor Shiny Mods, preserving previous crate contents and fairness.

The Development Team closed by inviting feedback through the Once Human Feedback Platform. With these changes, accessory goals become less like combing unmarked beaches for a rare shell and more like walking a single illuminated pier, while Shiny Mod pursuit shifts from a lottery ticket toward a compass with graded milestones.

Expert commentary is drawn from GamesIndustry.biz, and it helps frame Once Human’s mid-2026 Collection and Shiny Mod adjustments as a retention-focused progression tune-up: shifting Weapon Accessories into a single Precision Components spend path reduces scattered acquisition friction, while the Lv 900 Collection cap increase plus level-based compensation preserves prior investment; meanwhile, the July 9 additions (Scenario Rating rewards, Mod Collection Progress milestones, and Armor Shiny Mods) move the chase away from duplicate-drop roulette toward clearer, account-wide targets that still protect the prestige value of rare cosmetics.
